Vegas for the Lunsford's

Vegas for the Lunsford's

Sunday in Vegas

We began the day cuddled in bed with our 4 year old, Emily and her dog, Reggie. We rushed out of bed in an attempt to attend church, but the exit we normally take was closed for maintenance, with only 3 minutes left before church services began.
Alternate plan.... Already equipped with our Bible, two daughters eager to hear a Bible story,
rumbling tummies and a beautiful day in the 70's, we opted to grab a quick lunch thru McDonald's drive-thru and head out to sight see at the Hoover Dam.
So, I opened the Bible to Deuteronomy and shared the lesson of Moses and the Ten Commandments as the girls munched away on chicken McNuggets and fries while Andy drove.
The girls actually enjoyed their Bible story and did very well on Daddy's pop quiz about everything they just learned....so, off to Lake Mead and Hoover Dam.
For those of you who aren't aware of the layout of the city, we live Northwest of the strip, while Lake Mead and Hoover Dam are located about 30 miles south of us in Boulder City. The mountains behind our home are beautiful this time of year because they are snow-capped...they are also void of vegetation, boasting beautiful rocks of red and brown. Well, the further south you travel, the more vegetation there is. As we approached Lake Mead, Emily noticed this and shouted with excitement, "Wow! Look, Sawah! There's gwass evewywhere! I've never seen so much gwass in my whole wife!" As you can tell, she still has problems with her r's and l's. Bad pacifier habit. Unfortunately, she does have to battle our yorkshire terrier for it. She just grabs it and takes it to the sink to wash it off. Yuck!!!
...Anyway, the day went well. The girls said today felt like a family vacation day. Well, I guess it pretty much was. That's the way of life here in Vegas!!!
